Friends of the Haworth Library

Do you know who your Friends are?

Click here to visit the Friends of the Haworth Library website.

We are.
We're the Friends of the Haworth Library. Founded in 1983, Friends is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the library. With the funds we raise from memberships and organizing local events, we're able to help our small library play a large role in the Haworth community.

What We Do.
Plan fundraising and fun-raising events including:

  • • Goods & Services Auctions
  • • House & Kitchen Tours
  • • Annual Halloween Scarecrow-Making
  • • Art Sales
  • • Book Swaps
  • • Author Luncheons
  • • Haworth Cookbook and Recipe Tasting

We support programming as well as the purchase of library materials not included in the regular budget, such as:

  • • Children's Summer Reading Program
  • • Storytelling
  • • Concerts
  • • Adult Lectures and Programs
  • • Archiving of Haworth's History
  • • Shelving for DVD/CD Collection
  • • Flat Screen Computer Monitors
  • • Video Projector
  • • DVD Cleaning Machine

Want to be a Friend, too?
We welcome enthusiatic volunteers who would like to join us as we develop new and unique ways (as well as maintaining favorites) to support our library in its efforts to be a true community "hub." If you are interested in contributing your time, please contact the Library Director, David Marks @ 201-384-1020 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Time an issue? You can always lend your support to the library with a monetary donation. To make a donation, please click on the Support the Library link. Friends come in all makes and sizes, and as you know, you can never have enough!

Some of our Special Friends
Meet Ruth and Peter Hirschel. They've lived in Haworth for 43 years and have been members of the Friends from the beginning. Ruth and Peter are frequent library users - they love the great selection of books and really enjoy the special programs. They're often here with grandchildren for storytime programs, and see the library as a social hub for all generations. We couldn't be happier - Ruth and Peter enjoying the library, and Friends, too!
