Gift Donation

The Haworth Library accepts gifts from public-spirited citizens with the understanding that they will be added to the library collection only on the condition that the Director has the authority to make whatever disposition the Director deems advisable.

Used Books: used books become the property of the Haworth Library to be utilized or disposed of in whatever manner considered appropriate by the Director. Used books will be accepted as space permits.

New Books: if an individual or a group wishes to present books to the library, they must be approved by the Director beforehand.

Monetary Gifts: gifts of money, real property or stock will be gratefully accepted if the Director believes the donation will further the purposes of the library and if the conditions attached are acceptable. Cash gifts will be used at the discretion of the Library Director. Generally if the cash is used to purchase a specific book the money is placed in the General Fund Account. If there are no requests for how the money is used, it is placed in the Librarian's Discretionary Account.

Books or money may be donated to the Library as memorials. Cards of acknowledgement will be sent to the donor and to the family of the person in whose name the memorial was given. A bookplate will be placed inside the book noting the donation.

Any other gifts may be accepted at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

The Library will not accept for deposit materials which are not outright gifts.

The Library shall recognize donors who contribute $250 or more in one year to the Library Fund by placing their names on the permanent brass plaque. All gifts and donations will be acknowledged by a letter.
